According to Boston.com and a few other MLB news sources, the Philadelphia Phillies apparently have made an offer to free agent pitcher Derek Lowe. It is not currently clear who else is interested in making an offer for Derek Lowe but the Phillies may be leading the charge. Many sports fans are expecting the Red Sox, Yankees, or Mets to also make a run at Lowe before the conclusion of this week. Speculation is surrounding Philadelphia for making such a dramatic offer at the same time the world champions were looking to re-sign Jamie Moyer.
It is possible that Derek Lowe may be just a decoy in order for the Phillies to pressure Moyer into resigning.
