According the LA Times, the Dodgers have inquired about pitchers Cliff Lee of the Seattle Mariners, and Roy Oswalt of the Houston Astros. Both the Astros and Mariners both stated that they have no interest in dealing their aces, but may consider a deal in the future if and when it becomes beneficial to their clubs.
“We’re not about to trade our guy just yet, but we’ll get back to you if and when we do.”
If a trade were to happen, the Dodgers would have to assume the salary of Oswalt or Lee. Lee has only $5.7MM left on his contract, while Oswalt is somewhere in the $29-30MM bracket.
Cliff Lee is alot cheaper and I am guessing you’ll see Cliff Lee in LA way before Roy Oswalt.
