Lombard’s 17 Year Old Austin Kline Continues to Show Exceptional Strength at the Plate

Montini (IL) –Austin Kline, the switch-hitting, power hitter, has had a spectacular tournament this past MLK holiday weekend of January 18 through 21, 2013. Playing in the Triple Crown MLK Classic in Scottsdale, Arizona, Kline, the starting Shortstop for the traveling Team MaxBat 18U Elite, finished with a Batting average of .467, On Base percentage of .667, 1 Double, 1 Triple, 3 Rbi’s, 5 runs and 4 stolen bases. Kline led the offensive attack for the Team MaxBat 18U Elite; who finished in the semi-finals with an extra innings loss to the Notre Dame Saints 18U (Scottsdale, Arizona) team, by the score of 5-4.

Austin Kline, who also is the Junior Montini Catholic High School(Lombard, Illinois) Shortstop, has also recently returned from the Tampa Bay Ray’s Training facilities located in Port Charlotte, Florida. During the 5 day showcase exposure (December 27-December 31, 2012) at the Tampa Bay Ray’s facilities. Kline, who has been named to the 18U National MaxBat Elite Team, went 10 for 14 at the plate, showcasing a .714 Batting Average. The switch-hitting Kline showed his skills at the plate; as well as in the field at the positions of Third Base, Shortstop and Left Field. During the one day Skills Competition Showcase, Kline had 5 Home Runs in the Home Run Derby Competition.  Kline is a switch-hitting, utility player, has recently settled in at the positions of Shortstop and Thirdbase; this at his Montini-Lombard, Il Broncos high school team and his travel teams respectively.

This past July, 2012, Kline was the starting Shortstop for the 2012 Summer Montini Catholic High School Broncos –Glenbard Regional Champions and Elite 8 Illinois High School Phil Lawler Summer Baseball Classic Finalists. During the Summer Classic Elite Eight games vs. Jacobs High school (twice) and St. Laurence High school, Kline had a Batting Average of .375; and was the number 2 hole hitter for the Broncos.

As a member of the 18U National Team MaxBat Elite, Kline will be playing in upcoming 18U Baseball tournaments this coming February in Vero Beach, Florida. Kline will also travel with Team MaxBat Elite to play in the Triple Crown College Showcase Tournament in July, which will be held in Richmond, Virginia.

Kline, who was named to the USA Baseball’s National Stars Team in 2009 as a Switch-hitting Third baseman and Catcher,  stands at 5’11” 185 pounds and has shown exceptional skills in the field recently with a .987 fielding percentage. As a sophomore at Montini Catholic High School in 2012, Kline was the starting Third baseman and played some Right Field in the Spring 2012 campaign, and was an Academic All – Conference Selection for the Suburban Christian – Blue Conference (Chicago, IL). During the regular summer season for Montini, Kline, started at Third base and at Shortstop; batting in the number 4 spot. Now in his Junior year, Kline returns as a veteran Varsity player for Montini Catholic High School for the 2013 Spring Baseball season. Kline continues to excel both on and off the field; being a recent inductee into the Montini Catholic High school’s “National Honor Society” this past Fall semester.
