Could Jim Thome Return To Philadelphia?

jimthjomeCould Jim Thome sign once again with the Philadelphia Phillies ? The answer to this question is quite obvious, but it never hurts to be optimistic.

Thome’s time capsule in Philadelphia holds a lot of great memories and milestones in the slugger’s career.

In 2003, Thome hit a total of 47 homeruns for the Phillies  and tied with A-Rod for the MLB lead in home runs for that season.

In 2004 he tallied his 400th career home run at Citizen’s Bank Park.

Jim Thome’s 2003-2005 run with the Phillies was believed to be “over-shadowed” by the emergence Phillies first-basemen Ryan Howard. Injuries plaque Thome in the latter part of the season in 2005, forcing the slugger to the DL, consequently the same happened to Thome in his second stint with Philadelphia in 2012.

So barring the chance, would Jim Thome consider coming back to Philly?

What we do know; the Cleveland Indians announced they are currently off the market for Thome after they expressed great interest in signing him for the 2013 season. Ken Rosenthal reports that the team did not want to devote a full-time DH to a roster spot. Jim Thome has said to the press that he hopes to continue his career and play during the 2013 season.
