Arizona State Staged Fight “To Loosen Up”

Brett Wallace and the ASU Sun Devils engaged in a team scuffle before the game vs. Fresno State on Sunday. The “fight” was apparently staged in front of TV cameras, fans, and MLB scouts starting with Wallace taking a swing at teammate Ike Davis. The scuffle quickly involved the whole team as the two “went at it” at on the field. It was later determined that the fight was staged to apparently loosen up the team before the game.

Not smart Mr. Wallace! Brett was the St. Louis Cardinal’s No. 1 pick in this years MLB Draft. Will the antics he pulled during the pregame put him in hot water with the Cardinal’s Franchise? I doubt it, but we will soon find out.

FYI. ASU lost (9 -12), so much for that.

Florida State’s Posey plays all nine positions in win

Just what exaclty was the coach trying to accomplish?

Florida State All-American Buster Posey played all nine positions Monday in the Seminoles’ 10-0 baseball victory against Savannah State and had an impact everywhere he went.

Posey began Monday’s game at catcher and worked his way around the infield in the next four innings. He played left field and center in the sixth. He struck out the first two men in the seventh and completed his tour in right field.

Savannah State interim coach Emanuel Wheeler had no problem with it. “It’s baseball,” Wheeler said. “If the kid has the ability to play all the positions, why not?”

Posey is the first Seminole to pull off the feat since Mike Martin Jr., son of head coach Mike Martin, did it in 1994.

One Point On ACT Keeps 2008 Recruit Out of MLB

The 2008 recruiting class has suffered its first two academic casualties, and they are Brandon Lewis and Kerry Murphy.

Brandon Lewis will be headed to Hargrave after coming up one point short on his ACT. Actually, Lewis had a higher ACT score, but it was not accepted by the NCAA Clearinghouse because apparently they judged the jump from the previous score to be too high, and apparently he had no reason for it like the jump for Alonzo Lawrence. It is certainly disappointing that the three-star defensive end from Pleasant Grove will not enroll this Fall, but he looks to be in pretty good academic shape for 2009, and he’s taking the news quite well.

Lewis was quoted as saying: I am still committed to Alabama and plan on coming back in the fall of 2009. This isn’t a bad thing because I am treating it as a redshirt year so I will get bigger and stronger. My grades were okay. I just barely missed the test score so I will be good to go for next year.”

The good news is that Lewis  is taking it well, and honestly it seems he should be able to make it for the 2009 season.  — Article from http://www.rollbamaroll.com/2008/5/27/540697/2008-recruiting-class-suff
